Home Gym Shop exists because of a constraint, not in spite of one. We stock equipment for people who train in the room they already live in — an apartment, a spare bedroom, the space at the end of a bed. That single decision shapes the entire catalog.
The problem with most home gym stores
Search for home gym equipment and you get racks, benches, barbells and treadmills photographed in a two-car garage. It is aspirational and, for a great many people, useless. A standard Olympic barbell is over seven feet long. A power rack needs a permanent footprint and ceiling height that most apartments do not have. A treadmill is one of the noisiest things you can run above a neighbor.
Meanwhile the genuinely apartment-sized equipment — adjustable dumbbells, band systems, doorway bars, folding benches — gets listed with no stored dimensions, no rated capacity, and no acknowledgement that you might live above somebody. So people buy things that do not fit, do not get used, and end up on a resale site six months later.
What we decided to do instead
We only list equipment that passes three tests:
- It fits a small room. It has to store away — under a bed, in a closet, behind a door — and we publish the stored dimensions, not just the in-use ones.
- It ships as a parcel. Everything we sell travels in a box on a normal parcel service, which is what lets us offer free shipping on every order with no minimum.
- It can be used considerately. Nothing in the catalog needs to be dropped to work.
That is why you will not find power racks, treadmills or loose plate sets here, and why you never will. They fail all three tests. If that is what your training needs, buy locally from someone who can deliver and assemble it — we would rather tell you that than take an order we cannot fill properly.
How we choose what to list
Curation, mostly by subtraction. For every category we look at what a person in a one-bedroom actually has to decide: whether a dumbbell cradle clears a bed frame, whether a leverage pull-up bar has trim to hook over, whether a mat is long enough for someone six feet tall, what a rated capacity means once you add your own body weight to it. Products that cannot answer those questions clearly do not get listed. Products that can get a page that tells you the answers before you buy.
We write every category and product page ourselves. Where a specification is model-specific, we point you at the number on the product page rather than making a claim that sounds good and is only sometimes true.
How fulfillment actually works
We work with a small number of overseas manufacturing and fulfillment partners who make and dispatch the equipment we list. Orders are processed in 1–3 business days, then transit takes 7–14 business days — 8–17 business days in total to addresses in the United States and Canada. We state that before you pay, on the product page and at checkout, because a delivery window is only a problem when it is a surprise.
We are not going to dress this up. We do not hold stock in a facility down the road from you, and we will never claim same-day dispatch, local stock or domestic manufacturing that does not exist. What we will do is tell you the real window and hit it.
What you get, in plain terms
- Free shipping on every order, US and Canada. No minimum, no flat rate.
- 1–3 business days processing, then 7–14 business days transit — 8–17 business days in total.
- 30-day returns from delivery, full refund on eligible items, no restocking fee.
- Prices in USD, shipping to the US and Canada only.
- A real person on email at support@home-gym-shop.com.
Our cover is those 30 days. We would rather state one clear commitment and honor it than publish a longer list of promises that get argued about later. If an item arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, we sort it out — that is what the returns page is for, and it is written in the same plain language as this one.
Where to start
If you are building from nothing, read the small apartment home gym setup guide or the starter kit guide by budget. If you know what you want, start with adjustable dumbbells and kettlebells — the single highest-value purchase for a small space. If you want to ask a human whether something fits your room, the contact form and support@home-gym-shop.com both reach us.
